The aim of the Zuri Initiative Women Empowerment Program (ZIWEP I) is to empower those women from low-income backgrounds, that have had limited education opportunities, and/or who are unemployed.

During this first phase of training, selected women receive weekly training sessions, of 3 hours each, over a period of 14-weeks, where our professional trainers cover various topics including technical, soft and entrepreneurial skills.

On completing ZIWEP I, women are given the opportunity to market the Zuri Hair Care products, and thereby earn an income to support their household, allowed to participate in ZIWEP II, or helped to become self-employed.

Since its inception in 2018, nearly 100 women from low-income backgrounds have been empowered. The women are selected after completing a screening process.

This training has been offered to various women's groups in Ngong, Kibera and Lavington.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style”
